Reconstruction works are commenced in a part of Miera iela in Salaspils

On 23 February the company SIA RERE Vide 1 of AS RERE GRUPA commenced reconstruction works in Miera iela, Salaspils, which will be completed in June of the current year as per the plan.

Miera iela is one of the main streets of Salaspils city, connecting catchment areas of Salaspils - Zinātņu akadēmijas ciemats and Purvs - with the other parts of the city, providing access to Salaspils nuclear reactor and Institute of Physics, as well as providing exit to the Riga bypass of the major state highway A4 (Baltezers - Saulkalne).

Asphalt surfacing of the part of the street to be reconstructed was decked more than 30 years ago and it was in an emergency condition. Pot-holes and crumbles of the surfacing were many places and more than 50% of the surfacing were covered with patches. The bearing capacity of the current surfacing was not sufficient for the current and perspective traffic intensity, therefore the construction of a new asphalt will be performed in the area of 6000m2 during the reconstruction works.

Within the framework of works, there are preparation and dismantling works, dismantling of the bridge and construction of plastic culverts planned. It is planned to establish a cobblestone surfacing for parking lots and descents as well as to perform excavation, which includes entrenchment and embankment in the area of 4000 m3, protection of ditching descent and construction of concrete pavement in the area of 3000 m2. The reconstruction works also will include establishment of pedestrian safety barriers, hand water pump of an individual design and two bus stop pavilions.

There is also the installation of bicycle stand, park bench and waste bins, as well as application of horizontal road designations and road signs planned  within the framework of improvement of the territory. It is planned to dismantle all current road signs and install the new road signs pursuant to the design along the part of the street to be reconstructed.

Within the framework of the project it is planned to reconstruct the current communication overhead cable line by constructing the communication system. Similarly, also the reconstruction of communication and power supply network, as well as construction of the street lighting and rain water drainage system of closed type is planned. Parameters of the rain water drainage system are planned in order it would be possible to connect the rain water sewerage system, to be constructed within the framework of the reconstruction of Rīgas iela, to the one, which is constructed within the framework of this project.
