Topping out rite for the Riga Art and Media Technical School
The new multifunctional study building will bring unprecedented and modern opportunities in organising studies at the Riga Art and Media Technical School. The new building will house easily transformable rooms fitting the concept of a "black box" large-scale filming studio. This means that it will be possible to adapt the new building functionally and spatially in order to host several events at the same time - episodic filming and daily learning process.
Both students and teachers are waiting for the new building, so the topping out ceremony means an important step closer to the new opportunities. Currently, the building is being constructed according to the schedule. So far, the full construction phase of the building's zero cycle has been completed, and the entire monolithic reinforced concrete frame of the building is built as well as the floor base on the premises. The builders have already started the facade and roof insulation works and the installation of windows and doors; they also continue the construction of internal and external engineering networks.
The new edifice will be a three-story monolithic reinforced concrete building. The roof covering will be constructed of floor panels and steel structures. Floating floors with an area of 1,670 square metres will be built throughout the building. The facade will be fitted with sawn wooden boards and laths covering 1,383 square metres (painted black). The surroundings of the new building will be landscaped and an organised pedestrian street will be created, which will also serve as a driveway. The inner street will be paved, have greenery and be equipped with recreation areas. The area will have concrete flowerpots, concrete and wooden benches as well as greenery.
