Increased quality and safety requirements of the Hilton brand have been implemented in the construction of Hotel Hilton Garden Inn Riga Old Town

In September 2019, the construction works of a new building –Hilton Garden Inn Riga Old Town – were completed in Old Riga. The initiator of this construction project is SIA “Apex Alliance Grecinieku”, construction design author – architect Andris Kronbergs, SIA “Arhis Arhitekti”. The construction design was implemented by the construction company SIA “RERE Būve”.

“While building the first hotel of the Hilton brand in Latvia, we knew that besides the main task of the building – the provision of the highest quality amenities and services for guests – the building will also shape the modern face of Old Riga. We have worked in a close team with the customer, design authors and all the cooperation partners in order to fully implement the increased safety and quality requirements,” Guntis Āboltiņš-Āboliņš, the Head of RERE Grupa, grateful for the accomplishment of the project.

The construction works were commenced in February 2017, and the building was put into operation in September 2019. Throughout the construction works, Hilton defined and unified the high quality and security requirements that were to be observed, which include increased sound insulation, construction of four types of fire safety systems, and other requirements. In addition to the standard procedure regarding putting into operation of the building, representatives of Hilton headquarters carried out an on-site inspection and the acceptance of the fulfilment of all the requirements.

Particular attention in the new building is paid to accessibility so that those with visual, hearing or physical disabilities could orient themselves in and freely use the entire common use premises of the hotel. The hotel has rooms for those with a physical disability, providing more space and special equipment with safety systems.
Performing the construction works in the historic area of Riga, at the very city centre, was a quite big challenge from the point of view of logistics because the supply of raw materials and structures had to be planned with particular care, considering the dense surrounding buildings and the limited area. Therefore, the supply of materials could be done only when their immediate assembly was possible.
“Modern solutions allow guests to fully enjoy modern construction in a historic building area,” Guntis Āboltiņš-Āboliņš shares his experience.
